Art Deco in Downtown Amarillo, Texas
White and Kirk Department Store had its beginnings in the 1890s, The building was designed by Guy Carlander and built by contractor Charles S. Lambie, in 1938. White & Kirk is now an office building. Until 1969, when it was purchased by Sakowitz Stores, the White and Kirk Department Store was one of the longest running retail businesses in Amarillo.

Carlander designed the building in a style often called "Pueblo Deco", a mixture of Pueblo Indian motifs mixed with art deco styles of the 1920s and 1930s.
